  • MainEx: We say “Mine!”…
    • All things>>>From me & For Me versus, From God & for God!
    • >>>The Lie=Mine & Truth=Thine!
    • Intro to Point
      • FCF/problem: self-honor…. All things serve self, not God!
      • Ex: Colonialism fought over territory… plant flag and claim [make real..]
      • >>So we are in a turf war with God… We say, that’s mine,
        • >>>But there is not one square inch of human existence over which Christ (who is ruler of all) does not say mine!
  • MainQ: How do we overcome the Lie with the Truth?
  • MainEx: Every child must learn to share… on the basis of God owning all
  • Thesis: The Gospel frees us from the Lie of Mine!
  • Ex: Rom 1:15, Paul Preached the Gospel for this purpose!!!
  • Ex: Acts 14:15 the Gospel turns them from vain Idols to the living God!
  • Point: Honor God as God!
  • Define Point
    • ****Point: Treat all things in this Life as for God’s honor, not your own!
    • Key Verse = 21, “Honor” –
    • Def= Well deserved respect for superior…
    • Ex: “Children honor your Father and your Mother…” b/c they deserve it…
    • Ex: Misbehaving My Mother told us we represent… had to learn honor…
    • Apply Point:
      • **God Deserves our Highest Honor!
        • 21, “Honor God as God…”
        • Ex: Military code of honor b/c so much is at stake
        • >>>Scale of honor seriousness… The Greater the dignity
          • ***God is worthy of infinite honor…
  • **Everything we have is from God and for God!
    • 21, “Or give thanks…”
    • >>>God gives all things on loan —– thanks to Him (not us)!
    • Ex: Roman Coin …Mark 12:13-17… all things are God’s… bear his image… on loan…
  • ***We’re responsible to serve him with all things he gives
    • Everything in your life is God’s and for God!
    • Say, not mine but thine!—– in your life, family, work, etc…
    • Ex: Colonialism…. Plant the Flag for God…
    • ***stake a claim —  over your body, mind, talents, time, family, work, singleness, marriage, kids, hobbies, church…
  • Ex: Joseph & Potiphar’s wife… “How could I sin against God?”
    • >>>God gifted him with a face and body! But for God’s honor!
  • ***Test:  Q: Are God’s gifts for your own honor or a way to serve God?
  • Conclude
    • Ex: Imbalanced — balanced on your own hand — [kids try this at home…]
    • >>>Life centered on self is imbalanced, life centered on God is balanced!
    • b/c Your hand is too small —-but God’s hand is big enough to balance on!
    • 21b>>>Paul called that “Futile” — the base of self-honor is not big enough
    • Thesis: The Gospel frees us from Self Honor… the imbalanced little hand…
    • EX: Paul and Barnabas preached in Lystra to turn them to the Living God…
    • >>We love this kind of story in the Bible or mission field… [make real]
      • Q: Do you love this story for yourself?
  • **The Gospel frees us from “Mine” — to honor God as God with all things!
  • **Christ says of all “Mine!”
    • –Your gifts, nature, gender, intelligence, work ethic, emotions, friendships, family, vocation, church, kids, spouse, singleness, wealth, or lack…
  • **Our response must be “Thine!”
